Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People’s Power (NPP), has stated that his opponents lack substantive criticisms against him and have resorted to slander and lies.
Dissanayake expressed confidence in his campaign’s success, pointing to the panic among rival candidates as a sign that they have already accepted defeat.
“Victory is assured. The panic within the other camps clearly shows that they have accepted defeat. They are criticizing us, spreading false news, and even distorting our comments. That’s all they can do,” he remarked.
He also highlighted several false accusations made by his opponents, including claims from a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP in Kandy that the NPP would cancel the Kandy Perahera, and similar allegations in Kurunegala.
Furthermore, Dissanayake noted that misinformation is being spread in rural areas, falsely suggesting that the NPP would suspend the Samurdhi welfare program for the poor and impose restrictions on business operations if elected.
