The Cabinet has approved an annual allowance of Rs. 7,500 for Sunday school teachers, which includes Rs. 2,500 for uniforms.
This allowance, proposed by the Minister of Buddhasasana and Cultural Affairs, will be implemented starting next year.
The benefit will be extended to Sunday school teachers of Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, and Catholic faiths.
Previously, a Rs. 5,000 allowance was provided under an earlier initiative, but that arrangement is no longer in effect.
