The Cabinet has approved the construction of 1,996 housing units for low-income families in Moratuwa, Kottawa, Dematagoda, Maharagama, and Peliyagoda under a Chinese government aid program.
The project will be carried out in three packages, with bids invited from eight nominated bidders as per the agreement with the Chinese government.
Following the recommendation of the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet, the following contracts were awarded:
- Package 01: Construction of 575 housing units in Moratuwa and 108 in Kottawa to M/S China Railway 25th Bureau Group Co. Ltd.
- Package 02: Construction of 586 housing units in Dematagoda and 112 in Maharagama to M/S China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd.
- Package 03: Construction of 615 housing units in Peliyagoda to M/S Shanxi Construction Investment Group Co. Ltd.
The project is a significant step in addressing housing needs for low-income families across these areas.
