The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a reduction in water tariffs by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB), in accordance with the established tariff formula.
As a result:
- Domestic water tariffs will decrease by 7%
- Government hospitals will see a reduction of 4.5%
- Schools and religious places of worship will benefit from a 6.3% reduction
Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Bandula Gunawardana, indicated that this decision aligns with the agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
