The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has disclosed that it dispatched letters seeking explanations to nearly 10,000 employees who participated in the recent protest by reporting sick leave. Deputy General Manager Noel Priyantha, spokesperson for the CEB, has stated that the board will take further steps based on the responses received from the employees.
In response to the ongoing protests against the restructuring of the Electricity Board, the services of 66 employees have been suspended. Ranjan Jayalal, Convenor of the United Trade Union Front of the C.E.B, asserts that stringent measures will be implemented against any perceived repression of the protesting employee
