The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has announced plans to conduct an analysis aimed at reducing electricity tariffs for consumers.
CEB Chairman, Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya, stated that the report from the analysis will be submitted to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL). However, as the current term of the PUCSL has ended, new members will only be appointed after the formation of the new Parliament.
Dr. Siyambalapitiya noted that electricity tariff analyses should ideally be conducted four times a month, but this has not been done systematically. He further stressed that the government is committed to lowering electricity tariffs to provide maximum relief to the public during these challenging times.
