The National Consumer Front (NCF) announced today that the price of a litre of coconut oil has increased by over Rs. 100.
According to NCF Chairman Asela Sampath, the price hike ranges between Rs. 180 and Rs. 200, bringing the current retail price to Rs. 550 per litre.
Sampath questioned whether the government had raised customs taxes by Rs. 150 and called for an immediate inspection to locate any hidden stockpiles.
