The Court of Appeal has refused to grant an interim injunction to halt the implementation of the gazette notification issued by the Minister of Labour, which mandates a minimum daily wage for plantation workers.
This decision was made during the consideration of a petition filed by plantation companies seeking a writ order to invalidate the gazette notification.
However, the bench of judges, while scheduling the petition for a hearing, directed that notice be issued to Minister of Labour Manusha Nanayakkara and the other respondents, instructing them to appear before the court on June 26.
