During a press conference held today (08), party leader and former Member of Parliament Vasudeva Nanayakkara confirmed the decision, stating, “The parliamentary election is approaching, and our party has decided to support the National People’s Power. We will be contesting while backing them in this election.”
Nanayakkara further elaborated on the Democratic Left Front’s efforts to align with the NPP, noting, “We have worked to build a relationship with the National People’s Power to contest this election together. Even during the presidential election, we sought cooperation, but it ultimately came down to a matter of policy for the NPP. Now, we are offering our full support to the National People’s Power.”
He emphasized the party’s commitment to the NPP, saying, “We stand firmly with the National People’s Power as we head into this election. We want our supporters to know that a vote for us is a vote for the NPP.”
