Diverse Factions Express Opinions on Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Convention

Various factions have been vocal about their positions on the national convention of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) held last Friday. Addressing the convention and the appointment of new office bearers, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, expressed his belief that former President and SLPP Leader Mahinda Rajapaksha is misguided in his decision to remain in politics and harbors aspirations of regaining the presidency.

In response to inquiries from journalists regarding the leadership of SLPP, Fonseka remarked, “SLPP is a sinking ship, and only Mahinda will take over its leadership.” He further asserted that if Mahinda Rajapaksa is attempting to settle scores with the Aragalaya by proposing a commission to investigate, such efforts are unlikely to succeed.
