Dry Weather Impacts 4,751 Individuals Across Sri Lanka

As a result of the prevailing dry weather conditions in the country, 4,751 individuals have been affected in various regions of the island, according to the Disaster Management Center.

Reports indicate that 1,490 people in the Gampaha and Kegalle districts have borne the brunt of the adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has initiated measures to ensure water provision to areas including Dehiwala, Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Panadura, Wadduwa, and Waskaduwa intermittently. This effort is in response to increased water consumption resulting from the dry weather. However, it’s noted that water supply to these areas may be at low pressure.

In light of this situation, the Board urges the general public to utilize water sparingly.

Furthermore, the Kalutara Disaster Management Center has taken proactive measures to deliver water to Mathugama, Horana, and Ingiriya using water bowsers, addressing the water scarcity in these regions.
