Campaigning for the 2024 General Election will officially conclude at midnight on Monday, Nov. 11. Following this, a silence period will begin, lasting until Thursday, Nov. 14, when the election will take place.
During the silence period, all forms of election campaigning are strictly prohibited. The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has granted police the authority to arrest any individuals or groups who violate election regulations and to enforce the law accordingly.
In related news, postal voters who missed their designated voting days are allowed to cast their ballots today (Nov. 7) and tomorrow (Nov. 8) at the District Secretariat linked to their workplace.
