The Election Commission has announced that vehicles carrying representatives of presidential candidates will be allowed to escort vehicles transporting ballot boxes from polling stations to counting centers. This measure addresses concerns raised by some politicians and candidates regarding the security of ballot boxes during transit.
According to the Commission, representatives may accompany the vehicle carrying the ballot boxes up to the last police checkpoint near the counting center. To authorize this escort, a candidate’s representative must submit a detailed report to the District Election Office three days before polling day. This report must include the polling station name, the vehicle number of the escorting vehicle, and the representative’s name on board. A vehicle license for this purpose can be obtained from the Senior Polling Officer at the relevant polling station.
The decision follows concerns over whether ballot boxes would reach counting centers without tampering after polls close, the Commission stated.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has reported that complaints related to the presidential election have surpassed 3,500. From July 31 to 4:30 p.m. on September 12, a total of 3,610 complaints were received, of which 3,047 have been resolved so far, according to the Commission.
