The Election Commission will reconvene on November 27 to deliberate on key matters related to the Local Government and Provincial Council elections. This will be the commission’s first meeting since the conclusion of the parliamentary election.
A court order has already been issued regarding the Local Government Election, and the commission will primarily focus on addressing this directive during the meeting.
Reports indicate that financial allocations for both elections will be included in the Vote on Account, which is set to be presented to Parliament in December. While funds for the elections have been earmarked, the final decision on the polling dates remains unresolved and will be a major discussion point at the upcoming meeting.
In the meantime, the Election Commission has urged political parties that have not yet submitted their National List MP nominees to do so promptly. As of November 17, the commission has gazetted the National List MP nominees provided by several parties.
