Election monitoring organizations have raised concerns over the growing misuse of government property in the lead-up to the presidential election.
Manjula Gajanayake, Executive Director of the Institute of Democratic Reforms and Electoral Studies, pointed out that activities such as entertaining voters and ramping up campaign efforts have been observed.
Similarly, the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) reported a significant number of election law violations. According to its Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchi, 1,066 violations have been recorded, with 515 cases confirmed.
