NOTICE UNDER SECTION 76A OF THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES ELECTIONS ORDINANCE
In accordance with Section 53A(3) of the Local Authorities Elections Ordinance (Chapter 262), the left thumb of voters will be marked with the appropriate mark for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election, scheduled for October 26, 2024. This change is necessary because the left little finger of voters was marked during the Presidential election on September 21, 2024, to avoid potential confusion regarding voter identification.
The Election Commission, exercising its authority under Section 76A of the Local Authorities Elections Ordinance, further announces that if a voter’s left thumb is missing, the appropriate mark will be applied to any other finger on the right hand, in line with Section 53A(3)(a)(b)(i) and (ii) of the ordinance.
