Entrepreneur Dilith Jayaweera, Leader of Mawbima Janatha Party, Advocates an End to Traditional Politics

In a bold statement at the Mawbima Janatha Party’s (MJP) district conference held on Saturday, February 17th, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, entrepreneur Dilith Jayaweera expressed his firm commitment to ushering in a new era in Sri Lankan politics.

Mr. Jayaweera, addressing the gathering, emphasized the need to break away from conventional political practices and herald a transformative change for the nation. He highlighted his unexpected foray into politics, citing his support for various political parties and figures throughout his university life and beyond, driven by the fervent hope of witnessing a better Sri Lanka.

“I am not someone who anticipated entering politics, but after consistently being let down by the promises of various political entities, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and be the change we seek. That is our purpose,” declared Mr. Jayaweera.

The district conference witnessed the presence of notable figures, including former Governor of the Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath, Deputy Chairman of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka MP Weerasumana Weerasinghe, former MP Piyasiri Wijenayake, diplomat Palitha Kohona, Sri Lankan racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa, and former sprinter Shehan Ambepitiya, alongside other dignitaries.

As Mr. Jayaweera leads the MJP, his call for an end to traditional politics signals a determined effort to instigate positive change and contribute to the realization of a better future for Sri Lanka. The presence of influential personalities at the event underscores the growing momentum and support for this transformative vision within the political landscape.
