Extensive Talks Held Between Sri Lankan and Iranian Foreign Ministers on Strengthening Cooperation

On Tuesday, February 20th, an extensive discussion took place between Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry, and his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who is currently on an official visit to Colombo.

During the meeting, both parties addressed various matters of concern, with a particular focus on further enhancing their collaboration across multiple sectors, notably in the energy domain.

“We agreed to work closely and enhance our partnership further,” stated Minister Sabry in a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Sri Lanka on the night of Monday, February 19th, and received a warm welcome at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya.

The Iranian foreign minister’s visit spans three days, during which he is scheduled to extend courtesy calls to President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
