Five Weeks Granted to Submit Objections in X-Press Pearl Compensation Case

Five weeks have been granted to submit objections in the case filed at the Singapore International Commercial Court to seek compensation for the environmental impact on Sri Lanka due to the X-Press Pearl disaster.

This decision came after a request made by the relevant shipping company through a motion. The Attorney General’s Department stated that time has been granted until July 1st to file objections.

Additionally, time has been granted to file objections against the motion filed by the Sri Lankan government at the High Court of Admiralty in London, seeking to remove restrictions imposed on obtaining compensation from the shipping company. The Attorney General’s Department said the shipping company has been given until June 28th to file these objections.
