The Irrigation Department has issued flood warnings for several low-lying areas of the Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya river basins, effective until 9:45 a.m. on October 13.
The department reports that significant rainfall has been recorded in most catchment areas of the Attanagalu Oya Basin as of 9:00 a.m. today (October 11). Based on the current rainfall data and river water levels from hydrological stations, there is a risk of flooding in low-lying areas within the Diwulapitiya, Mirigama, Attanagalla, Mahara, Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Ja-Ela, Katana, and Wattala divisional secretariat (DS) divisions over the next 48 hours.
This may result in the inundation of roads passing through these areas. Residents and motorists are advised to remain vigilant, while Disaster Management Authorities are urged to take appropriate precautions.
