Liam Payne, former member of the globally renowned pop group One Direction, has died at the age of 31.
Police in Buenos Aires, Argentina, reported that Payne fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in the trendy Palermo neighborhood on Wednesday, sustaining “extremely serious injuries.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pablo Policicchio, spokesperson for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, told The Associated Press that police were called to the hotel after receiving reports of an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” According to Policicchio, Payne “had thrown himself from the balcony of his room.”
Further details are still under investigation, though local media reported that Payne was in Buenos Aires to attend a concert.
