An extraordinary gazette notice has been issued, transferring the responsibilities of the Ministerial Portfolio of Justice, Prison Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms directly under the purview of the President.
This restructuring comes in the wake of Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakshe’s resignation from his ministerial role. Dr. Rajapakshe stepped down to prepare for his candidacy in the upcoming presidential election.
The gazette, which reassigns the ministerial portfolio to direct presidential oversight, was signed by the Secretary to the President.
