In response to prevailing disasters, the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration has issued a circular announcing the provision of special leave to government employees who are unable to report to work during the months of September, October, November, and December 2023.
As per the circular, public sector employees facing challenges in attending work due to transportation difficulties, displacements, and disasters such as floods, landslides, and road blockages across the country will be eligible for special leave.
The directive further outlines the procedure for obtaining special leave, stating that employees must submit a request, endorsed by the Grama Niladhari, to the heads of their respective institutions for approval. This ensures that the process is streamlined and follows the necessary recommendations before the leave is granted.
