In a tumultuous session in Parliament today, President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa engaged in heated arguments over various issues. The verbal sparring reached a peak when the Opposition Leader alleged that those overseeing microphones and video cameras were not maintaining impartiality.
“The people managing the microphones and video cameras are not acting impartially. Please instruct the Chair to ensure proper order in videography. I observe these things. It is unfair. Please don’t be prejudiced and partial,” the Opposition Leader expressed.
In response, President Wickremesinghe, rising from his seat, concurred, stating, “Honorable Chair, I agree with him. Please keep the cameras focused on him all the time. Don’t focus them on me.”
The Opposition Leader quickly retorted, saying, “Mr. President, this is not the UNP working committee. Don’t twist words. I never said that. Don’t twist my words. Don’t misinterpret what I said.”
“I am making a request. Cameras should be on you all the time,” emphasized the President, maintaining the call for continuous focus on the Opposition Leader. The exchange underscored the tense atmosphere within the parliamentary session.
