Heavy Showers and Strong Winds Expected Across Several Provinces, Public Urged to Take Precautions

The Department of Meteorology reports that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur periodically in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, and Mannar.

Additional showers or thundershowers may develop in various parts of the island during the evening or night. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is anticipated in some areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Uva, and Eastern provinces.

Strong winds, reaching up to 40 km/h, are expected at times in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
