The Meteorology Department has forecast showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50mm are expected in some areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely in several locations in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
The department further warned of strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph at times over the western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts.
The public is urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damages from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
