India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, has asserted that India is not only a regional leader but also a vital lifeline for its neighbors, particularly Sri Lanka, amidst its recent economic challenges.
Highlighting India’s steadfast support for Sri Lanka, Jaishankar stated, “While the rest of the world, including other institutions, were debating what to do, it was actually India that stepped forward.”
He emphasized that India’s swift response made a critical difference at Sri Lanka’s darkest moment, portraying India as a reliable and dependable regional ally.
Beyond immediate financial assistance, Jaishankar’s message extended to India’s commitment to Sri Lanka’s long-term development. He pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects such as railway lines and power grid connectivity as tangible evidence of India’s role in shaping Sri Lanka’s future.
