Indian billionaire and industrialist Gautam Adani hinted at potential collaborations with Uber, following a recent meeting with the ride-hailing app’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi. The Adani Group Chairman, in a post on X, shared insights into the discussions and expressed enthusiasm about the possibilities ahead.
During their encounter, Adani described the conversation with Khosrowshahi as “captivating,” highlighting the Uber CEO’s inspiring vision for the company’s expansion and his unwavering commitment to uplifting drivers and preserving their dignity.
In response, Khosrowshahi took to Twitter, characterizing the meeting as an “absolutely terrific conversation.” He affirmed Uber’s dedication to scaling up shared mobility and expediting the transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs). Khosrowshahi also expressed the company’s intention to elevate its partnership with the Adani Group to a higher level.
This strategic collaboration gains significance in the backdrop of the rapidly growing global green and renewable energy sector, providing a conducive environment for the increased adoption of electric vehicles.
The Adani Group, already a major player in the renewable energy space, has committed to investing an estimated $100 billion in India’s green energy transition over the next decade. As part of this commitment, the group aims to scale up its solar manufacturing capacity to 10 GW by 2027.
Simultaneously, Uber is actively transitioning its fleet to electric vehicles worldwide, with a particular focus on South Asia. Earlier this month, the ride-hailing giant announced the availability of its eco-friendly global EV service, Uber Green, in Delhi.
The collaboration between Gautam Adani’s Adani Group and Uber signals a convergence of interests in sustainable and green mobility, reflecting a shared commitment to contributing to the global shift towards cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
