The Indian owner of the ‘Galle Marvels’ team in the Lanka T10 Super League, Prem Thakur, who was arrested on Thursday (12) over match-fixing allegations, has been further remanded until December 18. Thakur was produced before Colombo Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (16).
During the trial, Thakur informed the court that he was prepared to provide a confidential statement regarding the accusations under Article 127 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered that Thakur remain in custody and be presented for further proceedings on December 18.
Thakur, arrested at Kandy’s Pallekele stadium where the tournament is taking place, is the owner of the ‘Galle Marvels,’ one of the six teams competing in the Lanka T10 Super League. The arrest followed a complaint by a West Indies player on the team who reportedly refused Thakur’s match-fixing request.
