Police have announced the implementation of a security program across the island for Poson Poya.
Deputy Inspector General of Police and Police Spokesperson Attorney-At-Law Nihal Thalduwa stated that Mihintale, Anuradhapura city limits, Thanthirimale, Avukana, Vijithapura, Namal Uyana, and Kekirawa have been identified as key areas where people gather during Poson.
He further mentioned that a decision has been made to deploy nearly 20,000 police officers to ensure security at temples and surrounding areas.
