Israel Declares 48-Hour State of Emergency Amid Military Strikes in Lebanon

Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has announced a 48-hour nationwide state of emergency following the Israeli military’s pre-emptive strikes in Lebanon. This declaration empowers the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to issue directives to Israeli citizens, including restrictions on gatherings and the closure of relevant sites.

In response, Lebanon-based Hezbollah launched a large-scale attack of rockets and drones towards Israel, citing it as an “initial response” to the killing of a top commander.

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, has confirmed the safety of Sri Lankans in Israel. He advised them to limit their outdoor activities and assured that their situation will be closely monitored. He also urged passengers traveling to or from Tel Aviv’s airport to stay informed about the latest flight operations.
