Maalathy the first killed LTTE female carder in the battle field has been commemorated in Jaffna and Mannar on 10th of October.
One commemorated event was held in Jaffna that led by the women’s wing of the Tamil National People’s Front and the other was in Adampan, Mannar with the participation of her relatives.
Maalathy was killed in 1987 at the age of 20 during a fight against the Indian Peacekeeping Forces (IPKF), in kopai, Jaffna.
She has been considered as the first female LTTE carder who was killed in the battlefield due to a face to face battle.
