The Department of Meteorology has announced that a low-pressure area is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 23. It is likely to intensify into a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal within the following two days. The system may further strengthen and approach the eastern coast of Sri Lanka, the department added.
Naval and fishing communities operating in the southwest Bay of Bengal, as well as the general public, particularly those in the Eastern and Northern provinces, are advised to stay updated with future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology.
