Sri Lankan junior sprinter Merone Wijesinghe has advanced to the semi-finals of the Men’s 100m event at the 2024 World Junior Athletics Championship, currently taking place in Lima, Peru.
The 19-year-old secured second place in Heat 4 last night (28) with a time of 10.55 seconds. Nigeria’s Okon Israel Sunday claimed first place in the same heat with a time of 10.48 seconds.
This year, 13 Sri Lankan athletes have qualified to compete in the World Junior Athletics Championship in Lima, Peru.
