The Meteorology Department has announced that several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in other areas of the island during the evening or night. The department has warned that some locations could experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
