Meteorology Department Issues Advisory for Severe Weather in Northern Bay of Bengal

The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory warning of heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas for multi-day boats operating in the deep sea areas of the Northern Bay of Bengal.

According to the advisory, a low-pressure area is expected to develop over the Northern Bay of Bengal today (29). The department forecasts very strong winds ranging from 70-80 km/h, heavy rainfall, and very rough seas in the affected areas.

Naval and fishing communities are advised to avoid venturing into the sea areas bounded by 10N – 17N and 83E – 92E over the next three days. Additionally, those currently in these regions are urged to return to the coast or move to safer areas immediately.

The Department of Meteorology advises all maritime and fishing communities to stay informed through future updates and forecasts.
