The Meteorology Department has announced that showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall, approximately 50 mm, is likely in some areas within these regions, according to the department.
Additionally, several spells of showers are forecasted for the North-Western province and the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
There is a possibility of showers or thundershowers occurring in parts of the Eastern and Uva provinces, and in the Polonnaruwa district during the evening or night.
The department also warned of strong winds, ranging from 40 to 45 kmph, over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
