Meteorology Department Predicts Continued Windy Conditions Due to Active South-west Monsoon

The Meteorology Department reports that the prevailing windy conditions over the island are expected to continue due to the active South-west Monsoon.

Several spells of showers are forecasted for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.

Strong winds of about 50-60 km/h can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts.

Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 km/h can be expected at times elsewhere on the island.
