The Meteorology Department has announced that the heavy rains in the southwestern part of the island are expected to gradually decrease.
Showers or thundershowers are forecasted at times in the Northern Province, with fairly heavy rainfall above 50mm expected in some areas. Additionally, several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Elsewhere, showers or thundershowers are expected in the evening or night.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risks from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
