In light of the Rs. 29 increase in the retail price of a litre of Lanka Auto Diesel, and in adherence to the National Bus Fare Policy, a nominal bus fare revision of 2.01% would be necessitated. However, the NTC has officially announced its decision to refrain from implementing any bus fare adjustments at this time.
The current bus fare rates, based on the calculation of the Lanka Auto Diesel price at Rs. 341, were unveiled on September 3, 2023. Despite the recent surge in Lanka Auto Diesel prices to Rs. 358 per litre, the NTC emphasizes its commitment to maintaining the existing bus fare structure, providing temporary relief to commuters.
