National Water Supply and Drainage Board Faces Challenges in Sustaining Continuous Water Supply Amid Dry Weather

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced difficulties in maintaining uninterrupted water supply due to the prevailing dry weather conditions, leading to an escalation in daily water demand.

Anoja Kaluarachchi, Deputy General Manager of the NWSDB, highlighted that certain areas have encountered limited water supply or reduced water pressure as a result of the increased demand.

To address concerns related to water supply issues, the Board has established a hotline for residents to register complaints and seek assistance.

In a positive development, Kaluarachchi mentioned the completion of the temporary salt barrier installation aimed at preventing saltwater intrusion at the Ambatale and Biyagama water pumping stations.
