The National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB) has disclosed that water tariffs are set to undergo a 3% increment starting January 2024. This adjustment is in line with the revised Value Added Tax (VAT) slated to be enforced on January 1.
The VAT (Amendment) Bill successfully passed in Parliament on December 11, securing approval for an increment from the existing 15% to 18%. Consequently, the NWSDB has opted to incorporate this change in water tariffs, impacting consumers from the onset of the new year.
