Election observers estimate that nearly 100,000 private sector employees were unable to take leave to cast their votes in the parliamentary election.
Manjula Gajanayake, Executive Director of the Institute of Democratic Reforms and Electoral Studies, reported that complaints regarding this issue were received from employees of 12 different institutions.
