No Threat Confirmed After Bomb Scare on Mumbai-Colombo Flight, AASL Assures

Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) has confirmed that there is no ongoing threat following a bomb scare on Vistara flight UK 131, an A320 Neo aircraft traveling from Mumbai to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The flight, carrying 96 passengers and 8 crew members, was scheduled to arrive at 14:51 hrs and safely landed at 14:49 hrs. The incident began when the flight’s captain received a nonspecific bomb threat call 10 minutes before landing. In response, BIA management swiftly alerted relevant authorities, declaring an emergency to ensure the safety of everyone on board.

Upon landing, all passengers were promptly evacuated to the terminal as a precaution. AASL, in collaboration with security agencies, conducted thorough checks and confirmed that all passengers were safe and accounted for.

Aruna Rajapaksha, Head of Airport Management at AASL, stated, “We followed all standard protocols to ensure the safety and security of passengers and crew, which remains our utmost priority.”
