Over 10,000 Election Observers to Monitor 2024 Parliamentary Election

More than 10,000 local and international election observers are set to monitor the 2024 Parliamentary election. Currently, 43 foreign election observers have arrived in Sri Lanka for this purpose.

The group includes three representatives from the European Union and 30 observers from the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), alongside 10 election observers from neighboring countries.

Approximately 10,000 local election observers from 10 different organizations will participate in the monitoring process. The People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) alone has deployed 5,000 observers.

Additionally, eight organizations have been authorized to conduct mobile surveillance operations. The National Election Commission has assured that a special security plan is in place to guarantee the safety of all election observers.
