The Election Commission has announced that 21,160 postal voting applications have been rejected out of the total submitted for the 2024 General Election.
Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake, stated that a total of 759,210 postal voting applications were received, of which 738,050 were accepted. This marks an increase of 25,731 postal votes compared to the recent presidential election.
Rathnayake also confirmed that the delivery of ballot papers for postal voting will commence on October 23, with official ballot papers scheduled for release on October 26.
Additionally, airtime will be allocated to candidates tomorrow at the Colombo District Secretariat auditorium, with all political parties and independent groups duly informed of the event.
