The Meteorology Department has announced that the prevailing showery conditions over Sri Lanka are expected to continue due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of the island.
Showers or thundershowers are anticipated at various times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces. Additionally, several other areas across the island are likely to experience showers or thundershowers during the evening or night.
Heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are expected in some locations within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-western provinces. Morning showers are also possible along the eastern coastal areas, the department added.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
