Police Warn Against Recirculation of Old Videos on Social Media

Sri Lanka Police have raised concerns over the circulation of old video footage from past incidents, which are being reshared on social media as if they were recent events.

In a statement, the Police Media Spokesperson’s Office highlighted that videos, such as those showing vehicles being searched near Katunayake Airport and footage from past curfews, are currently being recirculated.

The police warned that sharing these videos, while falsely presenting them as recent occurrences, can mislead the public and disrupt law and order.

The public has been urged to stop posting and spreading such misleading videos. Additionally, the police cautioned that legal action will be taken against those responsible for sharing videos that could compromise national security.
