Speaking about the upcoming visit of a high-level International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation to Sri Lanka this week, Cabinet Spokesman Vijitha Herath stated that only preliminary discussions on the country’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program will occur during the meeting. He also noted that a more detailed discussion on its structural aspects is scheduled for late October in New York.
The IMF delegation, led by Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the Asia Pacific Department, is set to visit Colombo from October 2 to 4. The team will meet with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Sri Lanka’s new economic team to discuss recent economic developments and reforms under the IMF-supported program, a spokesperson for the global lender confirmed yesterday.
