President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued an extraordinary gazette to bring the Public Debt Management Act into effect starting tomorrow.
The Public Debt Management Bill, passed in Parliament with amendments on June 7, introduces significant provisions, including the authorization of public borrowing, debt issuance, and servicing.
The Act also mandates the creation of a Public Debt Management Office to streamline and oversee debt-related operations, ensuring more efficient and transparent management of public finances.
